Martin, thank you so much! I am in an internet cafe now - next stop the BBC, to pick up my passport.
And I have decided - once I have it, I am going to Paris! Tonight if possible, tomorrow, if not. The ticket will cost almost the last of my money, so I hope I find something there. Or someone.
And I hope this doesn't sound greedy but, Martin, did you find anything else along with my passport? When Helen 'found me' (I now know she had been following me, she's no Good Samaritan), I had almost nothing on me. I must have had some other things - documents, credit cards, things like that. Did you notice anything else in that thorny bush? I'm sure you would have looked but....

OK fair enough Laura. It's a fair cop. I'll return the credit cards in the morning.
Sorry about that. I didn't want to get into any trouble.
I hope your signature comes naturally to you. Or you'll have to practise copying the signature from the cards.
All right - there was about 100 euros as well. I expect I'll get caught out if I don't mention that too. I'll return the euros to the BBC also (I assume that's safe?) and no harm done.
The only other thing I found was some sort of legal document. It's a deed of bequest which passes all someone's worldly goods from one person to another. Oddly enough, it's already been witnessed, but it hasn't been signed by either party. I'm not very good on legal documents but I'll hand it over with the rest.
Oh - and there are four unused tickets to the top of the Eiffel Tower and four tickets which give you free passage on any French railways between 29 Jan and 29 Feb. Looks like the Eiffel Tower tickets also can be used any time.
I hope these come in useful to you.
Good luck. Feels like the world is waiting on your every move.
If ever you're in St. James's Park again and you see a bald middle aged gardener scrabbling around in the undergrowth on his knees, don't forget to say hi
Martin
