Pierre, you've certainly been lucky for me. You've identified the cafe. And maybe my father as well. (I do hope you can understand my English - you seem to have a pretty good grasp of idiom but then I suppose you would, hanging round cafe tables, waiting for tips, in such a tourist hot-spot)
Do you think that this Jean-Paul Leclerc could be my father? It certainly explains why I might have gone by the surname of Leclerc. And if I had a passport, I'd be on the next train over there to see that menu. Why on earth would all those people have signed it? Are you sure they all signed it at the same time? And why would someone walk around Paris carrying a German helmet?
Meanwhile, Dupin, thanks for suggesting I ring my mother again. And you're right, I should. I just felt so hurt, so abandoned when I put down the phone to her last time, I just can't manage it. I've tried, twice, my fingers about to dial but then stopped. I can't do it. Not yet. But if she came onto this blog and spoke to me, that might be more manageable. And Em, you're right, Jonathan should be able to tell me something about myself which proves whether he knows me (like whether I'm right- or left-handed). Jonathan, do you know, can you tell me anything?
Anna, the doctors did reckon I was a little bruised and battered when they examined me, like there might have been a bit of scuffle. But no scars and I can't find anything like three parallel line scratches on my calf, Alec. And Jenny X, thanks for suggesting a solution but it doesn't seem very likely that a secret cult would have pens printed up with their name on - not very secret behavior!
Does anyone else know Jean-Paul Leclerc? Can anyone else help me?
Meanwhile I've been doing some investigating of my own - watching Helen, seeing what she does, where she goes - and things are clearly much more complicated than I ever thought. As soon as I know anything for sure, I will post it here. In the meantime, I don't even dare tell you where I am living at the moment - it's the only way to stay safe, to keep control.

I know it must be hard with your mother. Courage cherie! Harmony will return.
I have another suggestion to make, although I am afraid to say it, so often my ideas seem to fall on stony ground. It concerns Katy and Kim. They are both in Stockholm are they not? Why don't they meet up to compare notes about your recent past? They could meet at the Ice Bar or Cafe Opera or in the bar of the Grand Hotel. In particular Katy and Kim both talked about your boyfriend. Kim said he was the cause of your leaving home in 2004. Katy said he was Nicolas at the Sorbonne. Could they be the same? And the man in the torn photo, the one Joel called John Wright. You found him attractive - perhaps your memory trying to return, is he your boyfriend perhaps and he holds the other half - a picture of you. Perhaps although your boyfriend he pretended to be your brother for the purposes of Julia and your elderly husband who may have seen him at the airport. Oh, you seem to have so many boyfriends...
Always

The man calling himself Jonathan Nettleton who appeared on the BBC radio recording as Laura's godfather is an impostor. I've never heard him before in my life. Quelle surprise: a man who happens to be a liar and a cheat. Of course everyone knows Rosie. I'd recognise that bark anywhere.
Downloading this message now or whatever you people say. I don't know why I am bothering with this.
